Hello My Friends

This is a little different than my normal updates. Yes, I am still working on it, and moving forward.

I did a lot of research before creating this visual novel, and it has affected my development. Believe it or not, I want to respect the show, and the actors, even while making fun of it.

But there is a connection that surprised me

House of Mysteries

In 1969, Hannah Barbara started work on a new cartoon, and at first attempted to copy The Archies called The House of Mysteries. 5 characters and a sheepdog. But it was too much like The Archies, so they retooled the show.

First, they changed the sheepdog into a Great Dane, then they altered the characters, dropping one, and basing the rest on characters from the show The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. (Dobie Gillis from now on.)

They renamed the show Scooby Doo, Where Are You! 

Here is Dwayne Hickman as the basis for Fred, Tuesday Weld, the basis for Daphne, and Bob Denver, the basis for Shaggy.

And here is another image with Sheila James Kuehl, the basis for Velma.

Final Words

So remember, when you are looking at Gilligan, you are seeing a clean shaven Shaggy.
