Saturday Update, January 29, 2022

Hello my friends

I decided I didn’t want to turn into a blob while making this visual novel, so I returned to working out for the first time since the pandemic started. In other words, I am sore.

For the Visual Novel, I added a few images, built a hut, and added a few more images.

The hut was the big project this week. I spent a day just trying to get a curtain right. (I might have OCD.)

Art – About 64% done – up from 59%

Building the hut did slow me down, but these numbers aren’t perfect. I am estimating my numbers by taking the lines of code I have filled in the images divided by the total lines of code in the script section for this release.

This is definitely not a perfect system. Sometimes I am replacing a note on what I want the images to be, but more often than not I am adding lines of code that display those images.

As I go along adding images, I sometimes rewrite the dialog, either to improve it, or to better match the images I produced. This is why I always put “about”. I never decide ahead of time how many images I need. That I do on the fly, so it will always be an estimate.

Next time I plan on leaving empty lines for the images. Since I didn’t do that before I won’t go through and add those spaces in now.

Story & Code – Done

Final Thoughts:

I believe I can finish this off by the end of February. Again, I won’t be guaranteeing anything, but I am fairly confidant at this point. That gives me 4 weeks to do the remaining 46%.

As always, enjoy life.
